Network mapping and classification workshop

VOSviewer is a computer program that performs the mapping and classification of networks of authors or words from a corpus of scientific literature, from network files (GML and Pajek), from Research Information Systems (RIS) files or from text files. VOSviewer has been developed by Nees Jan van Eck and Ludo Waltman of the Center for Science and Technology Studies, University of Leiden (The Netherlands).

Goals:The workshop is transversal, multidisciplinary and initiatory. It is aimed at people interested in the analysis of thematic networks, of authors or words; Basic knowledge of computer science, textual statistics, reference databases and information retrieval and visualization are required.

– Presentation of VOSviewer.
– Description of documents with RIS (Research Information Systems) files.
– Fundamentals of network analysis: similarity, dissimilarity, distance and automated classification of documents. Static analysis and dynamic network analysis.
– Practical application of network mapping and classification with VOSviewer.

Requirements:Participants must bring their own laptop.
